How beautiful does this look? Vintage pink glass platter with dark chocolate and various cheeses to open up our palette.

Served with cheeses, dark chocolate and strawberries. A great start to a great event.

Sunny day, blue skies, cocktail in hand, plenty of good company. Who can ask for more?

Part of our appetisers, as well as home baked bread with various spreads, our black olives, marinated wild mushrooms, pickles, chillies and more.

Handmade cannoli shells filled with sweetened ricotta, chocolate chips with one end dipped into melted dark chocolate and the other end dipped with crushed pistachio. Decorated with a delicate flower of our wild strawberries from the garden.

Pasta dish: our handmade tortellini filled with slow cooked osso buco, parmesan cheese and herbs. Served in a delicious chicken broth. Perfection in a bowl!

Some testimonies from our small group who joined our foraging day trip

Anna and I grab a good Italian espresso on the deck at Fifth Ave Katoomba, before the work of cleaning and sorting mushrooms begins.

A wonderful escape from the ordinary. Foraging in the peaceful solitude of the forest is enough reward, but this group found plenty of mushrooms to take home.

The fire pit at Fifth Ave Katoomba is a great spot to gather after a special lunch, especially if the weather is fine.

The drive to mushrooming is half the fun, with spectacular views of clear blue skies, rolling hills and green pastures, with mountains in the distance.

These beautiful pine mushrooms were foraged from the nearby state forest, and have been spread out to dry as part of the preserving method.
